Indeed, the success of bariatric surgery is impressive and suggests that stomach volume and gut-related appetite hormones plays important roles in food intake. I haven’t dug deeply enough into the science to know whether recipients of bariatric surgery defy the “calories in vs calories out” rule that applies to all weight loss trials I’ve ever seen.
