Yes! If someone is struggling to get enough calories to fuel their activities, then choosing easy-to-access versions (such as smoothies, nut butters, hummus) should help, as will cooking.

The opposite applies to those who have a small calorie budget, either because they are sedentary, small, and / or looking to cut back on calorie intake. Raw, whole foods will give you “free” calories because of the work required and the inefficient absorption.

It’s all about aligning your food choices with your goals!
